Sawing Pine for a Timber Frame

It's always a good day when the customer has a tractor; and we sure needed it. We're three days into the job, and have sawn quite the pile of lumber. Several of the logs went for boxed heart timbers, including 10x12's that will be used to rebuild the frame in an almost 200 year old house. The logs all came from tree work along the road that the power company is doing nearby. We had a few odd length logs, but even the short ones found a use as 3x5 braces and 3" thick stair treads.

We still have a long days worth of pine to saw up, as well as a good pile of hickory that we're all excited to get into. Aside from a few nails and bit of barbed wire in one pine butt log, everything has sawn up great. Looking forward to more sawing tomorrow.
